Welcome to Woodland Elementary School!
Image
Woodland School is a special place where our staff of faculty members, paraprofessionals, teaching assistants, custodians and cafeteria personnel is dedicated to making our school a wonderful learning environment. We have the opportunity to work with our 640 third and fourth grade students to guide them in developing their academic and social skills to reach their highest potential. Students engage in a comprehensive curriculum which integrates the areas of reading, mathematics, writing, science, social studies, as well as music, physical education, art, media skills and computer technology into rich and interactive learning experiences. Our teachers are dedicated to meeting the learning needs of all students through differentiated lessons and collaborating together to utilize best teaching practices.

We believe that a strong school and family partnership is the key for students to achieve academic excellence and strong interpersonal skills. At Woodland there are many ways to become involved in your child’s education throughout the school year. Reading together, checking over homework, studying for tests, discussing current events, volunteering at school, and helping with class projects all help your child become more successful in school.

Our PTO holds exciting events for the whole family such as the Monster Mash Halloween Dance, BINGO Nights and Woodland Carnival. The PTO also sponsors field trips and enrichment assemblies through the year. Students are treated to programs such as an inflatable planetarium in our gym, an interactive electromagnetism program, and the Catskill Puppet Theater which bring learning about science and literature to life. Our energetic school council meets monthly to focus on continued school improvement planning. Woodland teachers volunteer their time at our Homework Haven afterschool homework help sessions and Family Literacy Nights.

I am dedicated to providing students with a high-quality educational experience in a welcoming and warm school community.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have during the school year.
